5/5/16 – WYCO Championships
The two best swimmers in the WYCO Championships went head-to-head in two events last night, both earning a victory. Turner’s Grayce Beery faced off against Bonner’s Robyn Lewis in the 50 free and 100 fly, both producing thrilling races. Beery out touched Lewis in the 50 free 26.52 to 26.67. In the 100 fly, Berry swimming it for the first time in her career, lead through the first half but trailed off at the end finishing second with a time of 1:07.18. Beery’s time broke Alicia Pena’s school record by two seconds and qualified her for state in that event.
The Golden Bears also had three more top 5 finishes at the championships, with Tonya Edelman’s third place finish in the 100 back, Sophia Taylor placing 5th in the 50 free, and Charlea Kitchen getting 5th in the 100breast.
The Bears race this Wednesday in the KVL Championships at Turner.
