Let us begin by congratulating the JV for their fine defensive effort vs. Shawnee Heights. It was very late in the game when the score became a 2-goal difference.
I am very proud of the Varsity girls for their efforts night vs Shawnee Heights. We knew they were good, and the girls were apprehensive based on their results from last year. I had a game planned for the match, and shared it with the girls. Several last minute changes for injuries and other circumstances, scrapped most of that as we approached game time. Last minute changes made, and they executed almost flawlessly with the score remaining 1-0 with 10 minutes to go in the first half. Fatigue and some technical errors let in 3 goals in the last 8 minutes to end the half 0-4. A shout out to Suzie Lopez, Rebecca Russell, Ester SenLing, and Elizabeth Thang for outstanding defensive effort. At half time we regrouped and challenged the team to give a full effort and not let, the Marcy Rule put into effect. They met the challenge; this included the first Varsity minutes this season for Judith Silvestre and Yesi Siquenza.
